Freedom NPO recently passed a resolution to embrace a For-Benefit model to establish and maintain a county animal shelter as a public service. This innovative approach integrates four key elements: Farm, Plant, Shelter, and Sanctuary.

Farm: The farm focuses on bovine husbandry to create essential resources. By raising cattle, the farm will generate the raw materials needed for the next phase of the operation. This not only supports the local agricultural economy but also ensures a sustainable supply chain for the project.

Plant: The plant is designed to process bovine resources from the farm into high-quality Freedom Pet Food. This facility will turn raw agricultural products into nutritious pet food, providing a vital resource for the shelter animals and creating a surplus that can be sold to support the organization's financial stability. The plant’s operations will emphasize eco-friendly practices and aim to minimize waste, furthering the commitment to sustainability.

Shelter: The shelter will provide immediate care for animals, offering a safe haven for pets in need. It will follow the legal protocol of a three-day hold to locate the owners of stray animals, during which time efforts will be made to reunite pets with their families. The shelter will be equipped with veterinary services, comfortable living spaces, and dedicated staff to ensure the well-being of all animals in its care.

Sanctuary: The sanctuary represents a no-kill solution, providing long-term, sustainable care for animals that are not adopted within the initial shelter period. This facility will offer a permanent, loving environment for animals that might otherwise be at risk of euthanasia. The sanctuary’s mission is to provide these animals with a high quality of life, ensuring they receive ongoing care and attention.

The For-Benefit model adopted by Freedom NPO emphasizes purpose over profit. This approach is designed to create meaningful job opportunities within the community, fostering economic growth while addressing a critical public need. The focus on long-term sustainability and the greater good underscores Freedom’s commitment to social responsibility.

By integrating agricultural production, food processing, immediate animal care, and long-term sanctuary services, Freedom aims to create a comprehensive, self-sustaining ecosystem that benefits both the animals and the community at large.
